Artist Statement
Stashia Smyrichinsky approaches artmaking as an opportunity to balance chance and fate, and to investigate the life force energy (Qi) that connects us all. This concept allows her to examine systems in which art can remove barriers put up by the conscious and subconscious. Process driven creation allows her essence to unfold and interact with the materials at hand. It reflects her past, renders the present, and influences the future. This work activates abstracted imagery and ideas through multidisciplinary practice.
Stashia sees her work as an opportunity to open the provisional for the sake of the real; a chance to further the exploration of life, as one’s work is truly never finished. Her art often uses high contrast imagery using organic shapes that flow throughout the composition. The work yields textural forms that are fluid yet rigid.
Stashia dedicates her work to lifeforms across multiple dimensions to experience, contemplate, and further connect the transcendental Qi vibrations and karmic entanglement that encapsulates us all.
